When Should You See a Dentist for Tooth Pain?

Tooth pain is your body asking for attention. Knowing when to act early can protect your smile and prevent more involved treatment later.

Tooth pain ranges from a passing twinge to a throbbing ache that disrupts sleep. Acting early often makes treatment simpler and more comfortable, so it is worth knowing the signs that suggest you should book a visit.

Mild and short lived sensitivity

Brief sensitivity to cold or sweet foods can be common and may improve with a sensitivity toothpaste. If it persists for more than a couple of weeks, it is worth a check up.

Pain that lingers

Pain that continues after eating or drinking, or that wakes you at night, usually needs prompt attention. Please contact a dentist in Abbey Wood as soon as you can.

Swelling, fever or facial pain

Swelling around the gum or jaw, especially with fever or facial discomfort, can indicate infection. This should not be left and may need urgent care.

After a knock or trauma

Any injury to a tooth, even without obvious damage, deserves a quick assessment. Early review can prevent longer term issues.

Trust your instincts

If something does not feel right, please get in touch. We would always rather check and reassure than delay.
