Dental Emergencies in Abbey Wood: What To Do First

Dental emergencies are stressful. Knowing what to do in the first hour can make a real difference. Here is our guide for Abbey Wood patients.
Whether it is sudden pain, a knock to a tooth or a lost filling, dental emergencies happen at the worst possible moments. The first thing is not to panic. Most situations are manageable with the right calm steps.
Severe tooth pain
Rinse with warm water, gently floss to remove anything trapped, and take pain relief as appropriate for you. Contact us as soon as possible so we can see you promptly.
A knocked out tooth
Time matters. Hold the tooth by the crown, rinse very gently if dirty, and try to place it back in the socket if possible. If not, keep it in milk and contact a dentist urgently.
A broken or chipped tooth
Save any pieces if you can, rinse your mouth with warm water and apply a cold compress to the outside of the cheek. Book an appointment as soon as possible.
Lost filling or crown
Avoid chewing on that side and keep the area clean. Most lost fillings are not painful but should still be reviewed promptly to protect the tooth.
